Incident at Chartierville
UFO Mothership Lands
My grandfather Wilfrid Stringer took the photo. He lived in Chartierville, Canada, a small town in Quebec. Chartierville is about 5 miles from the New Hampshire border and has a popular tourist attraction called Magnetic Hill, one of only 4 in the world.. A car placed in neutral at the bottom of the hill is drawn about 200 yards back up the hill. There have been many UFO sightings in the area. Whether Magnetic Hill is related to UFOs is unknown.
My grandfather was headed home on a remote road in the early evening of September 7, 1977. He was startled first by the sound of a heavy wind and then by a glowing half orb which descended silently and landed on the road a few hundred yards in front of him. He said he could feel the heat coming from the object, and that it looked like an upside down World War I German helmet. It made no noise at all. It was bright and clear, like fine crystal. He happened to have his camera in the car and took a picture, then turned the car around and drove away as fast as possible. He kept an eye on the rearview mirror, but saw no movement and the UFO was soon out of sight.
The picture came out, but the image was faint. The small object in the lower left of the picture is the top of a house on the other side of the hill. My grandfather passed away in 1988, and the photo passed into my hands as part of his estate. Seeing the photo again made me think back to my childhood in the 1960s when I believe my cousins and I witnessed UFOs in the form of little bright objects flying through the night sky.
I decided to take the photo to a MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) conference held in Portsmouth, NH in March of 1996. I was able to show the photo to several well-known authorities. Geroge Knapp, CBS Investigative Reporter called it an amazing photo, Stanton Friedman, UFO expert and researcher for over 20 years called it a great photo, and Dr. Richard Haines of NASAs Ames Research Center called it a very interesting photo. Antonio Huewnes, another noted UFO researcher, said he thought it was probably the finest example he had ever seen of a UFO photo.
The photo on the postcard is a copy of the original, but the photo on the t-shirt has been enhanced for clarity and color.
